The famous actor, director and narrator Mr. Morgan Freeman, owns a blues club in Clarksdale, Mississippi. The new roommates Caitlin, Sophie, and I were ready for an adventure, and an adventure we had!
The blues club, Ground Zero, is one of the most interesting and unusual places I've been. Visitors have signed all over the walls with sharpie, and there's a very eclectic feel to all the decorations and furniture. The only restriction on signatures; don't sign on the bands equipment.
Mr. Freeman isn't the only celebrity to have visited the club. The staff told us all about the other celebrities who have frequented it, or played on stage. (There was an episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels filmed in the club).
We were lucky enough to be served by Mr. Freeman's personal server. We bombarded him with a million questions about the place and he area. We learned that if he's not working and Mr. Freeman is heading into Ground Zero that night, his server has to get into work.
A little southern cuisine!
We were lucky enough to sit down and chat with Josh "Razorblade" Stewart, a local and dedicated blues performer.
I'd suggest a trip to Ground Zero if you're ever in the area. The staff are extremely friendly, and are happy to tell you all about the area. They know the definition of Southern Hospitality. We finished off our night by heading off to some of the other local hot spots with some of the staff!
There's never a dull moment in Mississippi.
